BOSTON — Tatyana Kushner, MD, MSCE, spoke with Healio about rapid testing options for hepatitis C virus to improve the cascade of care.

Kushner, associate professor of medicine at Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, also highlighted presentations from The Liver Meeting that focused on micro-elimination programs.

“There’s a recognition that if we are to have hepatitis C elimination, we need both macro- and micro-elimination,” she said. “Macro meaning large scale national plan, like the proposed White House elimination plan. But if we want to access the populations with the highest prevalence of hepatitis C, we really need to go in there and work on micro-elimination in these communities.”
