BOSTON — Healio spoke with Norah Terrault, MD, MPH, FAASLD, about presentations from The Liver Meeting that investigated testing and treatment of hepatitis C virus infection among pregnant individuals.
“The current therapies we have for hepatitis C are not approved for use in pregnancy, and yet we understand that pregnancy is often a time when women come into care, maybe newly diagnosed at that time,” Terrault, professor of medicine, chief of gastroenterology and liver diseases, and Neil Kaplowitz Endowed Chair in Liver Diseases Research at the University of Southern California Keck School of Medicine, said.
