We all know celebrities are very highly influential people whose actions and decisions are often watched and emulated by wide audiences. So, when celebrities discuss chronic diseases in public it can bring awareness to a disease like vasculitis, which is rare. And in fact, vasculitis was brought into the media spotlight by the death of actor/director Harold Ramis in 2014. So, knowing that someone has the same disease and has gone through some rough times, but they're able to return to normalcy and lead normal lives actually gives hope to patients that are struggling to cope with the diagnosis of a rare disease. Both from a patient perspective and the physician's perspective awareness and education are very crucial to increasing the recognition, the diagnosis understanding, and management of vasculitis and it is very paramount to improve patient outcomes.
