Back

Roshni Naik, MD, allergist at Mount Sinai Health System, discusses treatment options for a case of severe asthma with nasal polyps:

"Patient history of severe asthma and chronic sinusitis with polyps. His spirometry, elevated blood eosinophil count, and elevated FENO suggested that patient had eosinophilic asthma.

Patient was on maximal therapy for asthma, however, he had daily symptoms requiring frequent use of albuterol.

We discussed options of biologic therapy options, including anti IgE, anti IL5, and anti IL4 receptor alpha, including different mechanisms of action, side effects, frequency of injections and number of injections."
