A post hoc analysis of the SURMOUNT-1 and SURMOUNT-2 trials found that early responders to tirzepatide, or those who lost at least 5% of body weight by 8 weeks, had greater weight loss and cardiometabolic benefits vs. non-early responders.
“This analysis is relevant for all of us as clinicians as we sit across [from] our patients, making decisions that are personalized therapeutic goals; it’s not one-size-fits-all,” Tina K. Thethi, MD, MPH, associate investigator at the AdventHealth Translational Research Institute and endocrinologist at the AdventHealth Diabetes Institute in Orlando, said during a presentation at ObesityWeek.
It was the top story in endocrinology last week.
In another top story, researchers found an association betweenfractures that occurred during adulthood and an elevated risk for future fractures, regardless of age at occurrence.
