BOSTON — In this video, John W. Ward, MD, discusses multiple presentations at The Liver Meeting that focused on testing and treatment for hepatitis C virus infection.

According to Ward, director of the Coalition for Global Hepatitis Elimination and professor at Emory University, the coalition developed a survey to gauge interest among providers for long-acting therapies for hepatitis C.

“There was great interest in having that as an option to deliver care for their patients,” he said. “We found that quite interesting.”

Ward also highlighted presentations that were part of a panel that focused on global health disparities in HCV care, as well as a study that focused on treatment outcomes among pregnant individuals with HCV.

“With that big focus on health disparities, which is very appropriate for hepatitis C testing and treatment, it really revealed how rich the toolbox is, as far as strategies that can be applied to scale up testing and treatment,” he said.
