A digital toolbox created by the North American Society for Pediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition has expanded to a web-based format to improve resource accessibility for health care providers.

“Our goal is to provide the pediatric gastroenterology community with quick and easy access to helpful links, publications, score calculators, algorithms and atlases to use during our training,” Alejandro Velez, MD, a second-year pediatric GI fellow at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital and co-leader of the NASPGHAN toolbox subcommittee, said in a Healio video exclusive.

The toolbox originally launched as a mobile application but transitioned in November 2021 to an online database, which the committee hopes will be easier to enhance with new resources.

“One of the exciting changes is that it is so versatile and can be updated at any time,” Namrata Patel-Sanchez, MD, MPH, a third-year pediatric GI fellow at the University of California, San Francisco, and co-chair of the NASPGHAN toolbox subcommittee, added. “We really want to emphasize that we rely on our pediatric gastroenterology community to help keep the website up to date with the idea that it's very focused and easy for fellows to use in clinical emergencies or with consults right away.”
