In this exclusive video, Jessica Allegretti, MD, MPH, discussed the use of fecal microbiota transplantation to treat Clostridioides difficile infection in inflammatory bowel disease, IBD alone and to treat patients with J-pouches.
Allegretti, director of the FMT program at Brigham and Women’s Hospital Crohn’s and Colitis Center in Boston, said better outcomes are seen in patients who undergo FMT early for C. difficile. In addition, FMT is safe for patients with pouches.
