VIDEO: Efficacious split-dosing of high-dose methotrexate in patients with RA

SAN DIEGO — In this video, Healio spoke with Kathryn Dao, MD, about the SMART study presented at ACR Convergence 2023.
This multicenter, open-label, randomized controlled trial compared a once-weekly split-dose with a once-weekly single-dose of methotrexate among patients with active rheumatoid arthritis.
“The implications of this plenary abstract that was presented was that when I need to use high-dose methotrexate, and high dose for us is like 25 mg a week, split dosing actually might be more efficacious,” said Dao, an associate professor in the department of internal medicine’s division of rheumatology at UT Southwestern Medical Center.
