Maureen Whelihan, MD, FACOG, gynecologist with and president of Elite GYN Care of the Palm Beaches and State Legislative Chair for the American College of Gynecologists District XII chapter, and Catherine E. Gordon, MD, fellow in reproductive endocrinology and infertility at Brigham and Women's Hospital, spoke with Healio about birth control options for female patients.

 

In the first video in this series, Whelihan mentioned vaccine recommendations for patients who are pregnant.

 

She also provided commentary on:

  • Common myths associated with birth control, like weight gain;
  • Talking with patients about the effects of each birth control option to decide the best fit; and
  • Using a methodical approach to talk about vaccines with patients.

  • Verbal and written consent protocols “Consent is vital in health care, and especially in reproductive medicine.”
