CHICAGO — The NIH is rethinking the way nutrition research is conducted, Andrew A. Bremer, MD, PhD, MAS, director of the NIH Office of Nutrition Research, said at NUTRITION.

“We are at a critical point in our history. We are all in the midst of a nutrition-related health crisis,” Bremer told Healio in a video interview. “Suboptimal nutrition and suboptimal diets impact our national security. They impact our public health, and they impact our economy. So, they really do touch all aspects of our daily lives.”

In this video, Bremer recaps his talk from the opening session about what his office is doing to help achieve “equitable, actionable, culturally appropriate, context-specific, resilient and sustainable solutions to the problems that are facing our nation.”

“I am more excited than ever that the investigators here at this meeting ... can do just that,” Bremer said.
