Over the past decade, he has overseen news coverage in various medical specialties, including Infectious Diseases, Primary Care, Psychiatry, Pediatrics and Women’s Health & OB/GYN. His team has won several prestigious APEX awards for their news coverage.

Schoen received his BA in English from the University of Maine at Farmington and his MA in Writing from Rowan University, where he wrote about engineering projects for the school’s Office of Media & Public Relations.

Before coming to Healio, he wrote for several local papers — and even tried his hand at farming — in New England.

A native of northeastern Pennsylvania, Schoen is an avid outdoorsperson. When he is not working or being present with his amazing wife and daughter, you might find him lost in the woods with his golden retriever, Henry, or flyfishing on the Loyalsock Creek.
