“We have 3 days packed with world-class speakers, and it will be great to interact with them and see lots of friends, too,” Alan Dow, MD, MSHA, FACP, a Ruth and Seymour Perlin Professor of Medicine and Health Administration at Virginia Commonwealth University and a Healio Primary Care Peer Perspective Board member, told Healio. “And, I hear the weather in San Diego is pretty great.”

The sessions will address important clinical topics, including homelessness, updates on COVID-19, policy issues and telehealth, the release said.

The meeting will feature a clinical skills center, where attendees can engage in hands-on learning through simulation models focusing on office-based procedures and examination skills. Other offerings include popular learning formants, such as “Clinical Pearls” and clinical workshops, as well as traditional conference events like Doctor’s Dilemma, a medical knowledge competition.

The keynote speaker, Vineet Arora, MD, MACP, a Herbert T. Abelson Professor of Medicine at the University of Chicago Medicine, will kick off the conference with her opening ceremony speech on “Lead from where you stand: How to advocate for your patients, your profession, and yourself,” according to the release.

At the conclusion of the meeting, Omar T. Atiq, MD, FACP, a professor in the department of internal medicine at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences, will become president of ACP, and Eileen Barrett, MD, MPH, MACP, SFHM, an associate professor of medicine at the University of New Mexico, will become the chair of the ACP’s Board of Regents.
