VIDEO: 'The four As' of explaining COVID-19 vaccination to patients
CHICAGO — In this video, three health care providers from the University of South Florida Morsani College of Medicine share their experiences improving COVID-19 vaccine uptake.
Specifically, they discuss “the four As” — acceptability, adaptability, accessibility and adoption — that together create a framework to help physicians explain the facts behind COVID-19 vaccination to their patients.
“Hopefully, in the future, we will be able to see this as a health standard,” Lucy Guerra, MD, MPH, FACP, professor and director of the division of internal medicine at USF Morsani College of Medicine, said in reference to COVID-19 vaccination.
“Just like we get flu shots, just like we get our blood pressure checked... we have something that helps us from getting sick. It’s a way of being healthy, regardless of what variant may face us in the future,” she said.
In the video, Guerra was joined by her USF colleagues Hugo Narvarte, MD, FACP, an associate professor of internal medicine and pediatrics, and Jessica Flores-McGrath, PA-C, a physician assistant.
