KOLOA, Hawaii — In this video from Orthopedics Today Hawaii, Richard W. McCalden, MD, discusses the use of modular and monoblock titanium fluted stems in the setting of revision total hip arthroplasty.

“The message on both sides is that both of these [stems] work well. It is dealer’s choice,” McCalden, associate professor at the University of Western Ontario, told Healio. “I think it is whatever the surgeon’s most comfortable with.”

He added, “They are both based on the premise that you are going to get fixation distally. What you do proximally probably does not matter as much.”
