VIENNA — In this Healio Video Perspective from the ESCRS meeting, Luca Gualdi, MD, speaks about the latest advances in laser scleral microporation.

Laser scleral microporation (LSM, Ace Vision Group) is a treatment that restores accommodation in presbyopic patients by uncross-linking the scleral tissue that becomes stiff with age. It does so by performing arrays of micropores in the sclera using an Er:YAG laser. An automated tissue segmentation software integrated in anterior segment swept-source OCT has been introduced as a new optimization tool to verify the correct diameter and volume of the micropores.

“With this new-generation software, we will have even more precise results with more safety,” Gualdi said.
