CHICAGO — In this Healio video exclusive, Mark Shapiro, MD, discusses the importance of ensuring that the concept of male allyship is widely understood by all in medicine.
“The value of male allyship in medicine cannot be overstated,” Shapiro, hospitalist and host of Explore The Space Podcast, said. “The starting point for us now is a lot further upstream [than in the past] so that when the topic of allyship in medicine is now broached as an opportunity for improvement, people know what we are talking about. We are now in a place to ensure that all of our colleagues understand the concept of allyship and that there is real meaning, power and truth in male allyship in medicine.”
