“I believe it’s so important to have these meetings, specifically for women in medicine, so we can have a safe and supportive space to share not only our experiences but our challenges,” Winkelmann, founder of Scrub Sisters, said. “Surround yourself with women that lift you up. Always find a mentor to guide you and support you along your career and your personal life. And, also, I really believe that trying to achieve work-life balance throughout a career in medicine is impossible and not an expectation that is realistic.”
