In this video, Jeramy Tabuzo, BSN, RN, OCN, discussed a recent Oncology Nursing Society survey that evaluated literacy and knowledge deficits in genomics in cancer care among oncology nurses.

In addition, Tabuzo discussed the importance of ONS genomic educational resources, the ONS Genomics and Precision Oncology Learning Library, and other online resources discussed at Oncology Nursing Society Congress 2022.

Tabuzo, a clinical trials oncology nurse at Smilow Cancer Hospital, Yale New Haven Health in Connecticut, said she was enthusiastic about having access to an online biomarker database, which she said can be used to help educate patients on how their therapy works.

"It will educate nurses about testing considerations, implications for patient care, biomarker-directed targeted therapies," Tabuzo said. "Adding the biomarker database will really help us in explaining to patients how the drug works in layman’s terms."
