VIDEO: CDC educational presentation effective in changing youth perception of vaping

In this video, Martha Lassiter, MSN, RN, BMTCN, AOCNS, discussed e-cigarette usage among middle school students, which she presented as part of a Best of Oral Abstracts: Quality Improvement session at Oncology Nursing Society Congress 2022.
As part of the research, middle school students were surveyed before and after hearing a presentation on the cancer-causing effects of vaping.
"Where we did feel like we made some headway is that the number of students who felt like they might try it at some point was at about 15%, and after our presentation it dropped to less than 5%," Lassiter, a clinical nurse specialist at Duke Cancer Institute, Division of Cellular Therapy in Durham, N.C.
"Thinking that some e-cigarettes were safe was relatively high as well at about 15%, and that dropped to under 5%," she said.
