WASHINGTON — In this video, Tatyana Kushner, MD, associate professor in the division of liver diseases at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, discusses the benefits of patient inclusion and participation at The Liver Meeting.

“I think that’s really invaluable, not just for other patients to see but also for health care providers,” she said.

Kushner highlighted a patient session that focused on hepatitis C, which included several patients’ perspectives on their diagnosis and treatment experience.

“I think what was really striking about the stories you hear from the patients is what it means to have hepatitis C — from the diagnosis and how that feels, to the stigma they feel in their daily lives and their health care setting, and to the feeling they have when they’re finally cured,” she said.
