LAS VEGAS – In this video exclusive, Donna Cryer, JD, founder, president and CEO Global Liver Institute, spoke on the launch of the Liver Health Annual Trends Report and its possible impact for patients with chronic liver disease.
Cryer, a 27-year liver transplant recipient and former chronic liver disease patient, said this is the first report offering robust data on chronic liver disease that may fuel program development and patient advocacy.
“Most importantly as a patient who has had chronic liver disease and who’s had end-stage liver disease, something that really emphasizes the seriousness and the urgency and the pervasiveness of chronic liver disease and how it progresses increasingly to liver cancer is such a important message for the public to understand and certainly for physicians to understand,” Cryer said.
She said apart from gastroenterologists and hepatologists, primary care physicians need to learn how to treat complex patients.
