In this video exclusive, Benjamin Click, MD, from Cleveland Clinic, discussed the accuracy of imaging for the detection of postoperative Crohn’s disease recurrence.

The retrospective study included approximately 900 patients from Cleveland Clinic who underwent ileocecal resection for Crohn’s disease. In addition, they assessed patients with paired imaging and endoscopic assessments within 90 days of each other.

“We think that cross-sectional imaging in postoperative Crohn’s disease recurrence plays a vital, adjunctive role in conjunction with endoscopic monitoring programs,” he said.

Click said future studies are needed to assess a subgroup of radiographically active but endoscopically negative patient populations in Crohn’s disease.
