Beyond Celiac announced a 2-year partnership with Janssen Research & Development to provide research grants to explore different aspects of celiac disease.

“Beyond Celiac, and the scientists we work with, firmly believe a cure for celiac disease is possible by 2030, and making investments like this in critical research will get us to that goal. It is critical investments in research like this one that are going to make it happen,” Ken Kilgore, PhD, chief scientific investment officer for Beyond Celiac, said in a press release. “We look forward to working with Janssen to identify some of the most promising, relevant and applicable patient-centered projects, and provide the support to propel them forward.”

The $1 million partnership will fund research on issues ranging from risk detection to a possible cure for celiac disease. The program will focus on promoting a better understanding of how the gut microbiome impacts the disease, as well as potential biomarkers.

Beyond Celiac will manage and administer the grant in addition to providing half of the funding for the project.
