VIDEO: IBD therapies not linked with adverse pregnancy outcomes
In this exclusive video, Uma Mahadevan, MD, from the University of California, San Francisco, discusses the results of the PIANIO Study, which explores outcomes of pregnant women with inflammatory bowel disease and their children.
She said they found no association between biologic, thiopurine or combination therapy and adverse outcomes at birth or within the first year of life. Additionally, she said physicians should continue providing IBD medication throughout pregnancy.
