In this exclusive video, Jordan Axelrad, MD, MPH, from NYU Langone Health discusses his study from the American College of Gastroenterology Virtual Annual Scientific Meeting on the impact of baseline endoscopic and histologic activity on inflammatory bowel disease-related hospitalization.

In the study, researchers used a validated histologic score to predict endoscopic scores in patients with IBD. Then, they assessed how baseline activity influences later hospitalizations.

Researchers we observed associations with time to IBD-related hospitalization, with a strong association in UC and CD, but no association in IBD-unclassified.
