DDW 2020 canceled due to COVID-19 concerns

Digestive Disease Week and all of its associated events have been canceled, according to an event announcement.

Organizers are currently exploring virtual education options for the event, which was scheduled to take place May 2 through 5, in Chicago.

“While we are disappointed to miss the science, education and networking that are the hallmarks of DDW, we must focus on the health and safety of our community,” the announcement said. “Thank you for your patience as we evaluated the status of DDW in light of the rapidly changing coronavirus pandemic.”

For any logistical questions, DDW set up a FAQ section on its website to provide answers about everything from registration fees and housing, to abstract presentation and CME options.

“Given the logistics that go into organizing a meeting of this size, it will be unlikely that DDW will be able to reschedule the 2020 meeting,” according to the answer of one FAQ question. “However, in the coming weeks we intend to tap into the innovative spirit of our specialty and share the science and education from our meeting as we are able.”
