VIDEO: DHPA aims to ‘preserve’ independent gastroenterology practices
Five years ago, Digestive Health Physicians Association was started to promote and preserve independent gastroenterology practices and one of the first issues the advocacy group tackled included health services exemptions.
Since its inception 5 years ago, DHPA has grown to represent more than 77 independent GI practices in 37 states and works to support education and advocacy at the federal and state levels.
“We have grown and gotten into other aspects of legislative activity advocating for SGR change, advocating for step therapy, advocating on a state level for issues that affect practices in particular states that are important to the wider group of practices,” Michael Weinstein, MD, president of Digestive Health Physicians Association, and president and CEO of Capital Digestive Care, told Healio Gastroenterology and Liver Disease.
