CMS approves GIQuIC as Qualified Clinical Data Registry for 2019

CMS has approved the GI Quality Improvement Consortium, known as GIQuIC, as a Qualified Clinical Data Registry for reporting to the Merit-based Incentive Payment System for the 2019 reporting year.
Established in 2010, GIQuIC is a joint initiative of the ACG and ASGE that serves as a clinical benchmarking tool for gastroenterology practices. The registry includes more than 7.5 million colonoscopy cases, according to a press release.
“GIQuIC’s continued ability to offer quality reporting to CMS as a benefit of participation in the registry is a strategic imperative. We have maintained QCDR status since its inception in 2014, as it is critical for providers to report on measures that are meaningful to their specialty practice,” Glenn M. Eisen, MD, MPH, FASGE, president of the GIQuIC board of directors, said in the release. “GIQuIC’s QCDR status allows gastroenterologists to concurrently foster improvement in the quality of care provided to patients with gastrointestinal disorders, while being in compliance with reporting requirement.”
GIQuIC has maintained QCDR status since 2014, and ever year, more than 1,000 participants use it for their quality reporting to CMS, according to the 501(c)(3) organization.
GIQuIC will host an informational webinar on MIPS quality reporting in February.
