The American Gastroenterological Association launched a new app designed to help patients with inflammatory bowel diseases monitor their disease and educate them regarding different treatments, according to a press release.
The app, called My IBD Manager, will also allow people to share up-to-date information with their physicians to help them make informed decisions about their treatment.
“Our goal is to support patients in better understanding their IBD symptoms, and in communicating the full scope of their experiences with their health care providers,” James Lord, MD, PhD, medical advisor for the AGA said in the press release.
The app will include features like a treatment tracker, a symptom tracker and a food log to track nutrition. It will link to an online clinical platform for physicians called Ask AGA: IBD. There, participating doctors can access charts created using patient-entered data, allowing them to make treatment decisions based on the actual experiences of their patients.
The AGA developed the new programs in a partnership with Point of Care and Stay well with support from Janssen Biotech, according to the press release.
“Partnering with the AGA to support the My IBD Manager and Ask AGA: IBD clinician platform, which leverages the latest artificial intelligence technology coupled with the expertise of the AGA, supports our goal of fostering better patient-physician partnerships and is a natural complement to the therapies we offer to manage inflammatory bowel disease,” Tara Muzsi, director of gastroenterology marketing for Janssen, said in the press release.
