Pentax slimmest endoscope now available globally
Pentax Medical Company announced the U.S. launch of its newest ultrasound endoscope, the Slim Linear Ultrasound Endoscope, according to a recent press release.
This novel endoscope features the latest design and ultrasound imaging technology compacted into Pentax Medical’s slimmest linear GI echoendoscope with a thinner insertion tube, smaller distal end and shorter bending section to help doctors access hard to reach anatomy, according to the release.
“This unique combination sets a new standard in endoscopic ultrasound for everyday practice and for a wide range of procedures,” Clark Barousse, president of Pentax Medical, Americas, said.
Endoscopic ultrasound (EUS) procedures allow doctors to obtain images and data on the digestive tract, and surrounding tissue and organs for accurate diagnosis and treatment, per the press release.
“I prefer the Slim Linear for luminal cancer staging, because it is an EUS scope that can do it all in one shot: evaluate the stricture, negotiate the stricture, dilate, stage and FNA,” Anand Sahai, MD, professor of medicine and chief of gastroenterology at Hôpital Saint Luc in Montréal, said. “Most impressively, the image quality of the Slim Linear is exceptional.”
Along with their new endoscope, Pentax Medical will continue their partnership with Hitachi in EUS to deliver top image quality and novel technologies like radial and therapeutic linear ultrasound endoscopes, according to the release.
