CHICAGO — In this exclusive video, Reem Z. Sharaiha, MD, MSc, assistant professor of Medicine at the Weill Medical College of Cornell University, discusses the variety of new research in obesity presented at Digestive Disease Week.

“On one hand we have the low risk treatments such as diet and exercise and medications, and on the other hand we have high risk but very efficacious procedures such as surgery, and we’re left with [a] treatment gap. This DDW is filled with various devices and various research on this,” Sharaiha said, including intragastric balloons, and her own research on endoscopic sleeve gastroplasty.
