VIDEO: Cholangioscopy, pancreatoscopy advances improve management of biliary, pancreatic disorders
SAN DIEGO — In this exclusive video from DDW 2016, Isaac Raijman, MD, from CHI Baylor St. Luke’s Medical Center, and Greater Houston Gastroenterology, discusses how advances in digital cholangioscopy and pancreatoscopy will positively impact the management of patients with complex biliary and pancreatic disorders.
“New data on digital cholangioscopy has improved both the diagnosis and the therapeutic capabilities of this system, therefore modifying the algorithm as to how we manage patients from the get-go,” Raijman said “This has significant implications in terms of management of prognosis, and the same applies for stone management, where we can actually now clear the bile duct of stones, whether intrahepatic, extrahepatic or cystic duct much better and faster than we used to do before.”
On the pancreatic front, Raijman said they are seeing similar advances.
“We suspect that and anticipate that the impact of these results of our data ... will impact in a positive manner the algorithm as to how we manage patients with complex biliary and pancreatic disorders,” he said.
