THOROFARE, N.J. — SLACK Incorporated, publisher of Healio.com, is set to launch a unique web-first print news magazine delivering peer-tested content.

Published monthly beginning in January 2015, Healio Gastroenterology will compile the most-read content from Healio.com/Gastroenterology and distribute it in a print news magazine reaching 15,000 gastroenterologists and hepatologists in the United States.

The new publication is a natural extension of Healio’s tremendous online growth — a nearly 200% increase in Healio.com/Gastroenterology traffic over the past year, identifying a need that gastroenterologists and hepatologists have for a fresh voice in news. As a result, the publisher is taking the most popular content as reported by its website metrics and expanding its reach in print to the entire gastroenterology community.

Healio Gastroenterology takes our very best content that is trending online and delivers it in the engaging format of print,” Joan-Marie Stiglich, ELS, chief content officer at SLACK Incorporated, the publisher of Healio Gastroenterology, said.We have a lot of great content, and print is a complementary way to present relevant, important news and information to a wider audience.”

Peer-tested articles for the publication are selected based on website metrics including:

  • overall article traffic
  • email click-throughs
  • comment volume
  • social media listening

The print news magazine will feature late-breaking reports from national and international congresses, as well as treatment and diagnostic updates, FDA developments, clinical resources and guidelines for care. Intriguing headlines from Healio.com’s highly popular In the Journals section, which features executive summaries from the specialty’s most important peer-reviewed journals, also will be showcased.

A special preview issue will be available to attendees at the ACG 2014 Annual Scientific Meeting and Postgraduate Course to be held Oct. 17-22 in Philadelphia.
