Exalenz Bioscience has announced the global launch of a noninvasive device that can detect the presence of Helicobacter pylori bacteria, according to a press release.

The compact BreathID Hp system detects the presence of H. pylori bacteria via breath testing, and also can determine whether infection has been eradicated. Test results become available within 10 to 15 minutes of administration, allowing for immediate treatment prescription and reducing the need for repeat visits, according to the release. The device is intended for use in medical offices and urgent care facilities, is compatible with electronic medical records and is not regulated by the Clinical Laboratory Improvement Act.

The company also has established a new clinical support team to provide training and assistance for users within the United States. “Our new strategy is to provide physicians with the best technology and complementary service to assist them in caring for their patients and help them to ‘test and treat’ in the most cost-effective, efficient manner possible,” Ted Foltyn, vice president of worldwide marketing and business development for Exalenz, said in the release.
