In this video, Jeffrey A. Sparks, MD, MMSc, associate physician at Brigham and Women's Hospital, offered take home messages from a study focused on rheumatoid arthritis-associated interstitial lung disease, or RA-ILD, presented at ACR 2020.

The study explored total risk for mortality as well as cause-specific mortality.

“Patients with RA-ILD were actually at an increased risk for cancer mortality and that’s a novel direction as far as trying to monitor patients not just for regression of their underlying RA-ILD but as a progression for cancer and cancer death,” Sparks, who is also an assistant professor of medicine at Harvard Medical School, said.
