In this video, Lyons Hardy, MS, RN, P-MHNP, clinical assistant professor and concentration lead of the psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner program at Virginia Commonwealth University School of Nursing, discussed key takeaways she brought home from the American Psychiatric Nurses Association Annual Conference.

Hardy specifically discussed curriculum revisions her school is currently undergoing based on new accreditation standards, as well as how her experience at the APNA Conference has reinforced her belief what she sees as the shift towards a recovery-based, trauma-informed approach.

“It highlights the need for better social services and better support for people in general, so they can have what’s helpful for them based on their needs,” Hardy said.
