Healio has provided live coverage of the American Headache Society Annual Meeting in Austin, Texas, where health care professionals gathered for the latest updates on headache disorders.

During the conference, Jennifer Jung, MD, a resident at Los Angeles General Medical Center, presented research that showed specialty office visits for chronic migraine were significantly reduced for patients in a group telemedicine program. Jung told Healio she has headache groups that meet monthly and have access to occupational and physical therapists to help them cope with their migraine.

Another presentation showed that, for a small cohort of patients, in-clinic administration of IV ketamine significantly improved refractory chronic migraine pain intensity. Aaron Bubolz, DO, cofounder and chief medical officer at the Mind+ Neurology Clinic in Mequon, Wisconsin, told Healio that they were able to provide relief for patients who have had the same headache for 20 years.
