Key takeaways:

  • Designing a digital therapeutic with patients in mind can improve the experience of using it.
  • Providers must be included in the design of digital therapeutics.

WASHINGTON — In this video from the Digital Therapeutics Alliance Summit, Amy Edgar, APRN, CRNP, FNP-C, discusses the need to design digital therapeutics with the patient and provider in mind.

Edgar, chief clinical officer with Blackbird Health, took part in a panel at the summit about how digital therapeutics can be implemented into practice if manufacturers put patients and providers first.

“If we’re not including the people who need the product in the design of the product, we

are going to give them what we think they want or need, and not what they really need,” Edgar said in the video. “I think that if we design in that way, if we are including the people who will be using the product both for improvements in their own health and also as a provider ... then we create joy in using the product.”
