During one of the presentations, researchers reported that early dual biologic therapy may be safe and effective in patients with inflammatory bowel disease. It was the top story in gastroenterology last week.

Another top story was about a presentation that examined hyperbaric oxygen therapy as a treatment for fistulizing Crohn’s disease. Researchers found that it was associated with a clinical response rate of 87%, “suggesting that hyperbaric oxygen therapy may be an effective treatment option for fistulizing disease,” Amr Dokmak, MD, a hospitalist at Catholic Medical Center in Manchester, New Hampshire, told Healio.
