PHILADELPHIA – When selecting an electronic health system for a practice, clinicians should keep in mind the disease states they face most often and the measures they plan on tracker, a speaker said at the American College of Physicians Internal Medicine Meeting.

“Identify good, clean score cards and dashboards and put some thought into what you are measuring,” Priya Radhakrishnan, MD, chief academic officer for HonorHealth in Scottsdale, Arizona and a member of the ACP’s informatics committee, told Healio Primary Care Today.

While there can be pain points in implementing an EHR system, clinicians should take advantage of how they can help translate big data to patients and facilitate shared decision-making.
