VIDEO: PCP, patient partnerships lead to successful outcomes in palliative care
NEW ORLEANS — A physician-patient partnership in which the patient defines the goal of care sets the stage for a strong relationship and greater compliance in the palliative care setting, Roma Tickoo, MD, MPH, a palliative care physician from New York, told Healio Internal Medicine.
“The PCP is the first line of contact for patients and they have long-standing relationships with their patients and their families,” Tickoo said. “It is very meaningful for [patients] if their generalist becomes involved.”
