VIDEO: Anthony Fauci, MD, discusses progress with malaria vaccine
SAN DIEGO — While significant progress still needs to be made, there are some interesting and promising candidates in regard to malaria vaccines in development, according to Anthony S. Fauci, MD, director of the NIH’s National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases.
The National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases is “aggressively” working on creating a safe and effective vaccine for malaria to gain good control, eliminate and hopefully, eradicate the disease, he told Healio Internal Medicine.
“I don’t think [eradication is] something we’re going to see in the foreseeable future, but it’s a goal that we should aim at,” he said.
