VIDEO: Options for treating menopause becoming more individualized
SAN DIEGO – The rapid development of new medications for the management of the symptoms of menopause has enabled clinicians to more specifically tailor treatment to meet the needs of their patients, according to a speaker at ACP 2017.
“We have the luxury of … a pretty extensive menu to treat symptoms both of hot flashes, vasomotor symptoms and symptoms of vaginal dryness or urogenital symptoms,” said Cynthia Stuenkel, MD, clinical professor of medicine at University of California San Diego School of Medicine, in an interview with Healio Family Medicine.
Steunkel also emphasized the expansion of understanding of the health impacts of the menopause transition.
