The AMA and LexisNexis Risk Solutions recently announced that they are partnering to create LexisNexis VerifyHCP, which will offer a holistic solution to maintaining up-to-date and accurate network directories of available health care professionals, while reducing physician burden, according to a press release.
The accuracy of network directories often become impaired due to natural changes in physician data which can cause problems for patients who rely on these directories to make knowledgeable decisions and find appropriate medical care, according to the release. The intensified regulations for physician offices to provide updated lists of health care professionals mandated by federal and state agencies have created increased administrative burden for physicians.
LexisNexis VerifyHCP, to be released at the end of this year, will pre-fill, collect, monitor, cleanse and update physician data. The solution will modernize the process of managing a current and accurate network directory for both health insurers and physicians, according to the release.
“It has never been more important for both operational and compliance purposes to identify, validate and update clinician data in real-time,” Josh Schoeller, vice president, client engagement, LexisNexis Health Care, said in the release. “Working in collaboration, the AMA and LexisNexis Health Care are offering a comprehensive and authoritative solution that delivers a flow of accurate data to meet state and federal directory mandates, and most importantly, supports the needs of patients, physicians and payers.”
This partnership expands AMA and LexisNexis’s commitment to delivering accommodating solutions to evolving health care, the release stated.
“LexisNexis Health Care provides unique analytic technology and proven capabilities that complement the AMA’s extensive data resources and supports the important goal of providing patients with accurate network directories,” Laurie McGraw, senior vice president of health solutions at the AMA, added. “Working together to solve a significant industry challenge will provide physicians a simplified alternative to updating practice information with multiple payers that reduces administrative burdens and workflow disruptions.”
