Nearly half of physicians struggle to meet health care quality, value goals

Physicians are reporting difficulty adapting to a changing health care system in the United States, according to a survey.

The Decision Resources Group published the survey data from 2,994 physicians in its Taking the Pulse U.S. 2016 study, according to a press release from the group.

The survey found that 43% of physicians believe their "organization is struggling to understand and meet goals of value and quality," which include patient outcomes and costs, and hospital readmissions.

In addition, the group reported that 85% of physicians were interested in online sponsored pharma content, 82% of physicians use electronic health records between patients and 13% of physicians provide virtual patient consults.

"In the current health care landscape, physicians are struggling to support their patients, manage multiple data streams and meet daunting new performance goals," Kelly Pinola, an analyst with Decision Resources Group, said in the release. "This opens up a range of opportunities to support physicians in their daily workflow. Pharma companies have a unique opportunity during this time of change to build positive brand equity among these physicians."
