SLACK Incorporated wins several APEX awards

THOROFARE, N.J. — SLACK Incorporated received several Awards of Excellence and a Grand Award in the 25th Annual Awards for Publication Excellence (APEX) competition. Healio.com, a website for specialty physicians published by SLACK Incorporated, received a Grand Award in the “Websites” category, while several SLACK publications garnered Awards of Excellence.

Launched in 2012, Healio.com provides specialty physicians with daily news, videos, online education, meeting coverage and more.

“A massive site — packed with useful, well-researched and well-written information — but very well organized, with clear navigation,” said the 2013 APEX competition judge commendation of Healio.com. “The site offers all-encompassing resources that are carefully targeted to its audience of health care professionals. Numerous interactive features — and the ability to customize the site to provide tailored news and data for your specific interests — are added pluses.”

The APEX Awards of Excellence recipients are:

  • OSLI Retina Staff for “Most Improved Magazines & Journals”
  • TCT Daily Editorial Staff for “Magapapers & Newspapers — Print”
  • Cardiology Today Editorial Staff for “Magapaper & Newspaper Writing”
  • Kristine Houck and Robert Press (Orthopedics Today) for “Blog Posts”
  • Matt Hasson and Dan Morgan (Ocular Surgery News) for “Feature Writing”
  • Cardiology Today’s Intervention Editorial Staff for “Health & Medical Writing”
  • Lori Shields and Karen Stanwood (The Journal of Psychosocial Nursing) for “Magazine & Journal Design & Layout”

A judging panel comprised of expert writers and editors determined recipients of the awards, which are distributed based on graphic design excellence, editorial content and overall communications superiority.

“Our staff’s ongoing efforts have earned these exceptional honors, and I am ecstatic that their hard work is recognized,” Joan-Marie Stiglich, ELS, Senior Vice President of SLACK Incorporated, said. “Earning these awards is a demonstration of our dedication to provide physicians with timely, relevant news and information.”
