KOLOA, Hawaii — In this video from Orthopedics Today Hawaii, Michael H. Amini, MD, spoke about subscapularis-sparing total shoulder arthroplasty.

“It’s been great to be able to have patients get out of their sling essentially right away [and] minimize complications from [subscapularis] insufficiency with both total and reverse [shoulder arthroplasties],” Amini said. “It’s something that I think has a long runway ahead of it. I think we’ve seen less-invasive, muscle-sparing approaches in the hip take off, finally, and now becoming much more commonplace. I think that’s where we’re going to be headed with the shoulder.”
