DENVER — In this video from the American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine, Billy McMullen, retired NFL wide receiver and founder of SparkTalk, discusses how storytelling can help build relationships between athletes and physicians.
“One of the biggest takeaways I have is just about telling your story — having student athletes tell their story to their doctors so they can bridge that gap, especially when there’s a different social economic status between the two,” McMullen told Healio. “It accounts for better care, better relationships and definitely a better bottom line. Storytelling is huge because it allows for those gaps to be bridged.”
