KOLOA, Hawaii — In this video from Orthopedics Today Hawaii, Andrew Shimmin, MBBS, FRACS, spoke about several technical aspects of resurfacing the patella during total knee replacement despite the lack of available technology.

“I talked about exposure – making sure you get good exposure of the patella, about the use of a suture to control the exposure and the level, and to avoid using soft tissue clamps,” he said. “I talked about the importance of using a caliper to make sure you measure thickness, both before and after [resection], and to have a good understanding of how thick the implant is,” Shimmin added.
